The gale of defections rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State is far from over as another prominent member, Dr. Itekema M. Abel-Tariah has resigned from the party.
Abel-Tariah, a one-time interim State Treasurer of APC in the state, dumped the party last week in a letter he addressed to the APC Ward 6 Chairman in Buguma, headquarters of Asari Toru Local Government Area.
He said his decision to quit the party was based on what he called ‘irreconcilable differences on issues bothering on opinion, policies, ideology and religion’.
Dr. Abel-Tariah who said his resignation from the APC was immediate, however did not state whether he was joining another political party or what he intended to do afterwards.
Recall that the APC in the state had in the last one month lost some of its big wigs like Prince Tonye Princewill, Mrs. Ibim Seminetari, Dr. Dawari George amongst others.
Former Senator representing the Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe formally announced his resignation from the APC last week, stating that he had since left the party. He is now the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) but disclosed that he would support the Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
