Gunmen Kidnap Five Passengers Along Emohua-Kalabari Road
…One Person Shot Dead Along Nkpolu-Rumuigbo
Gunmen last week Saturday kidnapped five passengers from Buguma-bound commercial bus along the Abonnema/Degema/Emohua road.
Our Correspondent gathered that the bus which took off from Choba Park axis of Port Harcourt was attacked by gunmen at the bad spot of the road.
Also, the driver of the bus was attacked and later released after the gunmen dispossessed him of his handset and money.
In the meantime, Rivers State Police Command says it has drafted a team of the anti-kidnapping unit to the axis following Saturday’s attack on the Abonnema/Degema/Emohua road.
Spokesperson of the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko in an interview with correspondent said the Commissioner of Police Friday Eboka has ordered for an immediate investigation into the incident.
SP Iringe-Koko also assured the commuters and drivers plying the route of adequate security on that road.
Recall that three weeks ago a commercial driver identified as Salvation Tailor-Harry was killed on that particular bad spot after kidnapping his passengers onboard.
In a related development, gunmen yesterday shot and killed a yet-to-be-identified young man along the Nkpolu-Rumuigbo axis of the Obi/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.
Reports say the killing occurred along the Church of God mission road axis of the main Nkpolu road.
Eyewitnesses say the gunmen stopped the young man along the road and shot him dead after an argument. Some say they demanded his mobile handset and he refused. It is also not clear if the gunmen were hired to kill the young man.
The Rivers State Police Command has not spoken on it, a team of police from the nearby Division later took away the corpse of the yet-to-be-identified young man.
