Int’l Christian Body Commends Rivers CAN Leadership

An international  Christian Networking Organization, the Agape Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International (AFOCMI) has commended the leadership qualities of the Rivers State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Speaking recently during its conference held in Port Harcourt, the International President of AFOCMI, Bishop David Azanabo, poured encomium on the Rivers CAN Chairman, Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa, saying that the leadership style of the chairman has not only improved the lot of the body but has engendered confidence into the body of Christ.

The man of God said time has come for Christian leaders to work in unity and achieve set goal.

According to him, “If one wants to go fast, he/she goes alone but if one wants to go far, he/she goes with people”.

Bishop Azanabo declared that he has actually come to encourage the body of Christ in Nigeria for God’s work.

“I have come to encourage the churches, leaders and workers of the churches in Nigeria especially in the South-South region of the country,” for the evangelization of the gospel.

He disclosed that, the fear of the coronavirus pandemic has really done a lot of damages in the world than the disease itself and that the earlier this is nipped in the bud, the better for everybody.

The man of God stated that while the governments concentrate on giving out food palliatives to the people, they on their part would take on the spiritual palliative hence the need for them to provide 300 copies of a study Bible to the Church leaders for free distribution.

“The time for a one man show in the work of God is over, we must unite and work together through networking”, he said.

Speaking at the event, the CAN chairman, Apostle Dimkpa said the conference was in line with the message of Jesus to his discipline in (John 9:4) “that we must work the works of Him who sent me and be busy with his business while it is day light. Night is coming on when no man can work,” he quoted.

He made it know that CAN is glad to identify and partner with the group in the Kingdom vision which includes strengthening the unity among the churches, training and developing ministers to grow in the gospel of salvation through Christ Jesus.

He reiterated that the ability of Christians to accomplish anything of lasting value rests upon one’s active connection to God.

“As true and visionary leaders, he noted, your lasting effectiveness should not depend upon your personal charisma, talent, popularity, managerial skills or anything else….,” he said.

Dr. Dimkpa said God holds leaders to a higher esteem because not only do they cause ruin to their own souls when they deviate but also they cause ruin to the souls of those who rightly look up to them.

He maintained that Christian leaders should emphasize more on messages of the cross and salvation instead of building big cathedrals and that it is important they sit up and be alive to their responsibilities.

The chairman used the opportunity to completely condemn the Big Brother Niger (BBNaija) reality TV show and would want it scraped, saying that the programme is immoral and corrupts the minds of the Nigerian youths.

Presenting some copies of the bible to the CAN leadership on a later date at its secretariat, the South-South Coordinator of AFOCMI, Rev. (Dr.) Augustine Essien who led his planning committee members, confessed that they were impressed with the new found relationship and promised to work closely with them in future to achieve set goal.

He disclosed further that because of the success of the conference, AFOCMI hoped to hold another National Conference in Port Harcourt in three months time (November, 19th – 21st, 2020) precisely.
