Fear Grips Ogoni Community Over Fresh Killing

Report says the people of Duburo community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State are now living in fear over renewed killing by gunmen suspected to be cultists.

We gathered suspected cultists invaded Duburo community on Sunday night 15th November, 2020 and killed a youth of the community. The Chairman of Community Development Committee (CDC) of Duburo Community, Vincent Gbosi, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent in a telephone interview called on relevant security agencies to investigate the repeated killing of youth in his community by gunmen.

Mr. Gbosi recalled that on the 3rd of June 2020, gunmen invaded the community and killed two persons.

The Community Development Committee Chairman who identified the deceased  as Ledum Nwiekina urged the Police and sister security agencies to provide adequate security in the area.

Our correspondent gathered that the killings may not be unconnected to supremacy battle between suspected Iceland and Deygbam cult members who also target relatives of their rivals.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni,  in his response through a text message to our reporter said he does not have the report yet that but promised to get back to our reporter. He was yet to get back to our reporter as at press time.

Our correspondent gathered that two weeks ago a member of Khana Security And Peace Advisory Committee (KHASPAC), Saro Nelson, was shot dead by unknown gunmen opposite, motor park in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area.
