Police Investigate Death Of Five Persons In Ahoada Cult Clash

The Rivers State Police command says it is investigating the circumstance that led to the shooting at Abuja housing estate, Ahoada main town, Ahoada East Local Government Area which resulted in the death of five persons suspected to be cultists.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe Koko made the disclosure in a statement to newsmen.

The statement reads in parts: Icelanders and Greenlanders clashed on the 6th of September, 2022, at about 0730HRS In what appears to be a fight for supremacy. Resultantly, five persons are reported killed. The deceased persons include Chukwujeku Kingsley, male, 36 and Chubike ThankGod, Male, 23.

The statement added that three corpses are yet to be identified as tactical units have been mobilized to the area to restore normalcy while investigation into the incident is in progress.

Our reporter gathered that the gunmen invaded the housing estate in Ahoada in search of rival cult members, Saturday night.

A shoot-out was said to have ensued between the invaders suspected to be members of Greenland cult group and their rivals, Iceland cult group which resulted in the death of about eight persons and a woman sustaining gunshot injuries. Corpses of the deceased littered around the estate as at Sunday morning.

A resident of the community told us that residents scampered for safety and many others remained indoors for fear of being caught up in a crossfire.

Our source also disclosed that there was no security presence for over two hours the shooting lasted.
