OBALGA Council Boss Receives Okocha As Projects Near Completion

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon (Barr) George Ariolu on Monday, played host to the former National President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Chief O.C.J. Okocha (SAN) in his office at Council Secretariat, Rumuodomaya.

In a terse statement released after the visit, the OBALGA boss said Okocha was on a working visit to the council to ascertain the level of readiness of some projects which the revered SAN was part of the flag-off.

The statement reads:  “About a year ago, our administration invited the former Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to flag off the construction of a 30 rooms office complex which we embarked on to enhance productivity and increase value amongst workers at the Council Headquarters, Rumuodomaya.

“At this critical juncture in the history of our Local Government, our focus must be on improved productivity and enhanced value. Productivity and increased value means creation of more wealth, jobs, and opportunities that translate to more tax revenues.

“As an administration, we believe that increasing productivity and enhancing value is not just the mandate of the government. Critical stakeholders, both in the private and public sector, must come together to discuss the issues and chart a viable course through the current problems”.

Ariolu said he had to lay special emphasis on these points and more after receiving in audience, the revered Hon. Onueze Chukwujinka Joe Okocha SAN MFR OFR, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) who was on a working visit at the Council Headquarter to ascertain the readiness of the 30 rooms office complex which he laid the foundation as well as the Legislative Building we inherited from the previous administration.

Ariolu who expressed satisfaction with the projects which had reached more than 80% completion, later displayed pictures of the projects at various levels of completion.
