COZA Pastor: I  Signed Counter Letter  Under Duress

A month ago, Busola Dakolo, the wife of singer Timi Dakolo, had accused the senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, of molesting her as a child when she was a choir in his church in Ilorin, Kwara state.

The child molestation allegation case was reportedly taken to the police for proper investigation after Nigerians demanded to know the truth.

In a recent development, the singer’s wife has revealed that she was forced into a van by armed men to sign a document countering her allegations against Pastor Fatoyinbo.

Busola Dakolo revealed her experience with the armed men in an interview with UK Guardian. She claimed that the incident had happened after a tinted minibus followed her while she was driving home.

According to her, the minibus blocked her path before she could enter her gate, and a man approached her. She noted that he asked her to enter the bus and demanded that she spoke to his boss in pidgin.

She explained that three men got out of the vehicle and threatened at gunpoint when she refused to enter the bus.

Dakolo said: “One was holding a gun, and I noticed a second one holding a letter. They told me they were from IG’s [the inspector general of police] office in Abuja and that I needed to sign this letter and acknowledge it.”

According to her, the letter contained allegations of criminal conspiracy, falsehood, mischief, and a threat to life, which were leveled against her and her husband.

She said: “Our culture doesn’t allow speaking of these sorts of things against anointed men of God. They’d rather hide it, and the party that is being victimized tends to live with that self-blame.

“The damage on the survivor is extremely terrible but the society, the church, keeps sweeping things under the carpet.”

Meanwhile, information had it that Pastor Fatoyinbo resumed his duties as senior pastor and he went back to preaching on Sunday, August 4, even though there had been no news from the police that the he had been proven innocent or guilty.
