Victims Of Flood Disaster Receive Palliatives
Some victims of the recent flood in Rivers and Bayelsa States have received some palliatives from the Rivers State University alumni.
The 10th President, Dr. Prince Anyanate Kio presented relief materials worth millions of naira to affected members of the association in Rivers and Bayelsa States, with an assurance of more support in the future.
His words: we are here to support the resettlement process of our members of the Rivers State University Allumni Association in Rivers and Bayelsa States that were affected. We are here to give them this token, it may not be much but this token of cash and palliative gift items worth millions will help in the resettlement process.
Responding to the gesture of humanity on behalf of the recipients, the Alumni representative of the institution’s Governing Council, Mrs Berezi Bekibina expressed appreciation to the President for the initiative and assured that the beneficiaries would make good use of the support so graciously offered, with an appeal to the president to extend the gesture to various IDP camps to give more hope to displaced families.
Earlier, Dr . Prince Kio who is also the leader of the National Representative Council of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), alerted the beneficiaries that as the flood waters are receding, there is an urgent need to sanitize the affected towns and homes for healthy habitation and so appealed to responsible medical authorities and government to provide technical support.
