Hon. Ben Eke Flags-off New Projects In Ahoada East
The Ahoada East Local Government Council Chairman, Hon Ben Eke recently inaugurated the flag-off of new projects in Ahoada East amid empowerment of several sons and daughters of the area.
The guest of honour, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison, Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly while commissioning some of the projects on Wednesday, December 14, thanked the chairman for his service to the people of Ahoada East Local Government Area, saying service is all about attending to the needs of the people and bringing it to material.
He noted the good gestures of Hon. Eke will further improve the economy of the area which will translate into greater security in the area and commended the chairman for the prudent use of the available resources.
“This harvest of projects execution and empowerment is a true reflection of the dividends of democracy. The chairman is replicating what Governor Nyesom Wike is doing in Rivers State “ he noted.
The Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Boma Iyaye also expressed satisfaction with the number of projects commissioned and those lined up for execution by the Council chairman.
He stressed he has witnessed several commissioning of projects but has never seen in one day where a Council Chairman will commission and flag-off 8 projects on a roll, ranging from the flag-off of the reconstruction of Ihuwo Secondary School, commissioning of Upata District Office at Edooha, commissioning of 50 Open markets, empowerment of graduating skill acquisition and ICT trainees, handing over of official vehicles to 13 councillors and the council secretary, flag-off of the construction of Ahoada East Local Government Staff canteen and the flag-off of the construction of motor vehicle maintenance workshop.
The lawmaker enjoined Hon. Eke to keep the flag flying and not to relent in his service to the people till his last day in office.
Hon Ohia Prince Obi, Commissioner, Ministry of Youths Development noted that some politicians go into politics to enmass wealth while some who have the public at heart go into politics in order to put smiles on their faces, saying Hon Ben Eke is one of such people.
He urged the people of Ahoada to give the Council chairman the needed support to enable him succeed and also advised the beneficiaries of the skill acquisition and ICT trainees not to disappoint but to engage in meaningful and production activities that would better their lives.
Eze Igbu Upata III of Upata Kingdom, HRM, Eze Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, who poured accolades on the Council Chairman, noted that the Eke administration is exemplary with so many legacies that would stand the test of time.
While performing the foundation laying ceremony of the local government staff canteen, he said when completed, it will reduce the incidence of meandering on the part of the staff.
The Council Chairman, Hon. Ben Eke thanked Governor Nyesom Wike, the stakeholders and the good people of Ahoada East for giving him the opportunity to serve.
