The Chairman of Rumuokwurusi Town Council, Comrade Osi Wosu has described the Rumuokwurusi Wrestling Festival 2022 that was rounded off on Saturday, December 17 at Rumuorianwo Playground as a huge success.
Wosu said he was happy that the aim of the festival which was to showcase the culture of Rumuokwurusi Community was achieved.
“It was also a kind of talent hunt as we used the festival to discover a lot of budding talents in wrestling from our community,” the elated Town Council Chairman said.
Just like in the previous ones, the Rumuokurusi Wrestling Festival 2022 staged at Rumuorianwo playground attracted many young wrestlers who displayed prodigious skills in wrestling and dazzled the spectators with scintillating performances. Highly experienced wrestlers between the ages of 30 and 45 years also wrestled to the admiration of the spectators who went wide in jubilation as one them who was so skin jerked up a pot-bellied heavyweight and threw him down mercilessly.
The chairman, Rumuokwurusi Traditional Rulers Council, HRH, Eze Simeon Wokoma watched the display of skills with keen interest and admiration. He and the Town Council Chairman, Osi Wosu who sat close together had occasionally spread the winners with wads of naira notes.
Some indigenes interviewed at the venue described this year’s wrestling festival as the best compared to the previous ones and commended the Town Council chairman, Comrade Osi Wosu for the efforts he put in making it a success. They prayed that the 2023 festival will be like this one or even bigger than it.
