Ahoada West PDP Ward 8 Petitions Gov Wike Over Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward 8 in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State comprising Upatabo, Anakpor, Oshika, Ula-Okobo I and Ula-Okobo II has petitioned the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the party leadership to intervene in the crisis rocking the ward which led to the suspension of their councillor, Hon. (Pastor) Chima Uzogbe from the Ahoada West Legislative Council for over nine months now, without due process.

In a communiqué issued after a ward congress over the weekend at Upatabo headquarters, the congress after reviewing the matter resolved to petition the party leadership, saying that the suspension order on their councillor by the legislative council through the petition by some ward executive members was not only vindictive but that some ward executive members’ signatures were forged and forwarded without the information of the congress in order to achieve their parochial interest.

The communiqué signed by Hon. Solomon N. Walter, PDP Ward 8 leader read in part:

“Contrary to what the enemies of Ward 8 in Ahoada West said about our councillor (Hon. Chima Uzogbe) alleging inter-party activities or romancing with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), the allegation is false without basis.

“Our councillor till date remains the major and highest sponsor of PDP activities in the ward. He supported and indeed contributed immensely to the party’s electoral victory in the last elections. The good people of Ward 8 do not know where the political enemies of the councillor got those framed-up and fictitious allegations levelled against him”.

Ward 8 Ahoada West disclosed that the action was a calculated attempt to deny them fair and equal representation in the legislative council.

They said that the ward had been cut off from the delivery of democracy dividends since their councillor’s illegal suspension from Ahoada West Legislative council.

The communiqué further said: “We therefore urge Your Excellency to please reconsider the suspension of our councillor as a political blackmail purportedly carried out to deny us effective representation in the local government area. We also appeal to Your Excellency to consider our plight and order for the reinstatement of our councillor back to office and all his entitlements paid in the interest of peace in the area and the PDP family”.
