The president of the Rivers Debate Group, Ibifiri Bobmanuel dropped the hint during a press conference in Port Harcourt.

He maintained that people who are aspiring to lead the state ought to be grilled on their plans for the state and how they intend to achieve them  stressing the need for Rivers people to weigh each candidate and make informed decisions in choosing leaders that will bring about sustainable development.

The Organisers who are made up of Rivers Entrepreneur and Investment Forum said as captains of industries who needed to contribute to deepening the democratic process in  Rivers State the debate was organised to critique the manifestos of the gubernatorial candidates.

Mr Bobmanuel further explained that though they are not politicians and can not delve into what they would do when they come into office they needed to ask them questions and let them know the task ahead of them.

“As captains of industries and development partners we need to put a call on those who want to lead us to know how they intend to drive growth around the seaports in the state.

Some of the salient issues we in the private sector have to a large extent will be brought to the front burner”, he informed.

He further disclosed that the event will take place on the 1st of February 2022 at Presidential Hotel pointing out  that the Rivers Debate of 2015 yielded so much results that brought about a functional executive arm of Government in the state.
