Amid anxieties over the January 31 deadline for use of the old Naira notes, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Sunday announced extension of the deadline to February 10, 2023.
The CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele told journalists in Daura, Sunday morning, that he had the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari for the extension.
Mr Emefiele said Nigerians, who are yet to change their naira notes from the old to new ones, now have an opportunity to do so.
He said people must utilize the opportunity because the deadline will not be extended again.
The CBN governor said so far, the Apex bank has collected 1.9 trillion and left with 900billion to achieve effective implementation of the policy.
