INEC Begins Distribution Of Sensitive Materials In Rivers

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced distribution of sensitive materials for Governorship and State Assembly elections in Rivers State.

INEC said it started the distribution and movement of sensitive materials to 17 local government areas last Wednesday.

INEC officials, security agencies, election observers including party collation agents reportedly inspected the ballot papers and result sheets at the Central Bank Headquarters in Port Harcourt before the sensitive materials were distributed to the LGAs.

“The State Resident Electoral Commissioner,(REC) Johnson Alalibo shortly after signing and taking delivery of the ballot papers denied conniving with any political party to compromise the electoral process”.

‘Mr. Alalibo also explained that some of the missing BVAS have been recovered’.

Our correspondent reports that the sensitive materials were distributed to Bonny, Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru, Port-Harcourt, Obio-Akpor, Ahoada-West, and Ahoada-East Local Government Areas

Others are Abua/Odual, Degema, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Khana, Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro, Gokana, Eleme, Oyigbo and Tai while distribution continued in other LGAs on Thursday.
