RSU VC, Excited As NUC Accredits Varsity Programmes
The Rivers State University (RSU) says it scored one hundred percent in the November/December 2022 accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Professor Nlerum Okogbule in a press briefing with journalists in PortHarcourt on Wednesday said the University obtained full accreditation status for all the twenty-four(24) academic programmes presented for exercise.
Professor Okogbule listed the programmes to include English, History and Diplomatic Studies, Theatre Arts, Philosophy, Anatomy, Physiology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Architecture, Land Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning, Law, Medicine and Surgery, Animal and Environmental Biology, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Mass Communication .
The RSU VC disclosed that no programme in the university presented for the exercise was denied accreditation and none was given Interim accreditation .He noted that the development explains why the institution is now a University of choice by candidates seeking admission to the various programmes.
Professor Okogbule further said that it’s a rare and unprecedented feat in the annals of history of the University since its establishment in 1980.
The RSU Vice Chancellor stated that academic activities had commenced at Emohua, Ahoada Etche satellite campuses of the University, while that if Saipenkwa will commence mid April.
Professor Okogbule thanked the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike for the massive and robust support given to the school which has brought the institution thus far.
He also commended the Governing Council and other staff of the University for their hard work .
The Vice Chancellor explained that the University has put adequate measures and mechanism in place to ensure safety and security of staff and students in the satellite campuses while thanking the traditional institution and indigenes of the community for their support.
