Wakirike National Congress Inaugurated

President, Wakirike USA. Solomon David has called on the good people of Wakirike to file out in their numbers to grace the epoch -making occasion. Solomon David made the call ahead of the official inauguration of Wakirike National Congress (WNC), a socio-cultural organization.

Briefing newsmen earlier on Wednesday, September 27,2023 in Port Harcourt, on the activities laying up for the program, the president who was represented by Barr. Tamuno Williams, chairman, central Planning Committee said the organization is duly incorporated as an incorporated Trustee inline with the extant laws of the land.

According to the President, the vision and mission of the organization is peace and unity of Wakirike nation, bringing their people together to form a new agenda, and that one of key factor of the agenda would be education, which he says would in turn be the key instrument for development as the end result. And that WNC is a body that speaks for its people, canvas projects, resolve conflicts for the entire Wakirike nation.

His words: As a people, we must become united, we must fight for the education of our people, we must strive to bring about the economic prosperity of our people; we must take steps to protect our environment and the ecosystem. We must ensure that our Kings and traditional institutions are respected and given a pride of place, our youths and women shall be repositioned to play critical roles God and humanity have bestowed upon them, we must liaise with all arms and tiers of government, companies, corporations, agencies and all well-meaning people towards attracting and bringing development projects and activities to the Wakirike nation.

The group recalled with pride and sweet memories the pivotal role played by their forebears in the struggle towards the creation of Rivers State and its nurturing to the attainment of its stardom as the Treasure Base of Nigeria, then suddenly, the Walls of sustaining our heritage were broken down and everything appeared lost except our unique will and God-given spirit of never giving up, no matter the challenge or adversary. It is against this background that our forebears ordered the renaissance of Wakirike nation,” he lamented.

The 3 days event started with an inaugural lecture titled” Wakirike Culture, Nationalism and Prosperity: Rebuilding the Broken Walls of Unity for Politico-economic Renaissance ” delivered by Prof. Ibibia. L. Paul-Worika at Ogu town, while the proper inauguration took place at Okrika local Government Council Secretariat Multi-purpose Hall, mainland, Okrika, under the chairmanship of Chief, Amb., Spiff Micah.K. Taribo-Amgbara JP. Followed by a Thanksgiving service at St. John’s Anglican Church, Abuloma on Sunday and later will move to a banquet at Kingolisa Hall.
