Ogoni Youth Federation Suspends Erring Officers

Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF) has suspended four officers of the body for alleged insubordination, gross misconduct and breach of constitution.

Those suspended are: Mesua Mtormabari – Assistant Secretary, Lekue Kingsley Lene – Publicity Secretary, Kingsley Dimkpa  – Financial Secretary and Emmanuel Bie – Spokesman.

A statement from the body said their suspension was based on the recommendation of a disciplinary committee set up to investigate the allegations leveled against them.

According to the statement titled: “Re Adoption of the Recommendation of Ogoni Youth Federation Disciplinary Committee Report by the National Executive Council” signed by Legborsi Yamabana, Preisident-General, the officers were suspended and barred from holding office in any organs of the body for life in accordance to section 6 articles 10(a) of their constitution.

The disciplinary committee report which was attached to the statement had said the committee invited the affected officers severally through phone calls, sms and personal contacts to come and defend themselves, but they refused to turn up.

The report which was signed by Nwibani Raymond – Chairman, Neebee Steve – Secretary and Mesua Suanaebari – Member, said it considered the actions of the officers as a fragrant disobedience of OYF constitution and recommended to the NEC to take disciplinary action against them.

Having suspended them, the Ogoni Youth Federation has called on the general public, security agencies and Ogoni community to take note of their suspension and avoid having any dealings with them in the name of the body.

But, Emmanuel Bie and co have said no body suspended them, adding that they had rather suspended the President-General of the body, Comrade Legborsi Yamabana, a situation which the President-General found laughable.
