10th RSHA: Hon. Martins Amaewhule Emerges Speaker

The Rivers State lawmakers have elected the lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor constituency 1, Rt.  Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Also elected was the lawmaker representing Gokana State Constituency Dumle Maol as Deputy Speaker.

Martin Amaewhule was elected after the 10th Assembly was proclaimed by the Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara through a nomination by Hon Linda Somiari Stewart, the lawmaker representing Okrika constituency and seconded by Major Jack of Akuku- Toru 1 constituency.

Speaking shortly after the oath of office, Rt. Hon Amaewhule promised a top class Assembly that will come up with legislations that will stand the taste of time.

He thanked members for voting in his favour and assured of an assembly that will not betray the confidence of the people while promising an a new Assembly that Rivers people will be proud of.

He also announced that the 10th Assembly will be a unifying factor as all their activities will be to the benefit of the State.

The Speaker of the 10th Assembly also thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for proclaiming the Assembly and also the immediate past Governor Nyesom Wike for his developmental strides in the state.

He further thanked the staff of the Assembly for assisting in the government business.

Hon. Martin Amaewhule who is in his fourth term and was the Leader of the 9th Assembly was unanimously voted for by all members present

Earlier, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara while proclaiming the 10th Assembly, solicited the cooperation of the lawmakers in administering the state and providing good governance to Rivers people.
