In a remarkable display of compassion and generosity, the Lead Pastor of Gateway International Church (GIC), Port Harcourt, Pastor George Izunwa has stepped forward to provide financial succor to stranded students of the Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt.
This rare act of kindness came to the fore penultimate Monday as Izunwa, through the George Izunwa Foundation (GIF) funded tuition fees for over 10 students of RSU, bringing hope and relief to many deserving individuals facing significant challenges.
RSU, renowned for its academic excellence, has been grappling with a growing number of students unable to pay their tuition fees due to various financial constraints. As the burden increased, so did the concern for the affected students’ future and education.
However, Pastor George Izunwa, renowned for his philanthropy and advocacy for education, has through the Foundation taken it upon himself to address this pressing issue. With a deep understanding of the importance of education in transforming lives, he has graciously decided to fund the tuition fees of the stranded RSU students, enabling them to continue their studies without the fear of financial obstacles.
National Network gathered that this recent gesture to the RSU students is just one of several humanitarian acts extended to the less privileged by Pastor Izunwa whose church is one of the fastest growing Pentecostal churches in Nigeria.
By lifting the financial burden off the shoulders of these students, George Izunwa Foundation (GIF) has not only paved the way for their uninterrupted education but also instilled in them a renewed sense of hope and motivation.
This act of exemplary generosity showcases the power of individuals to make a difference in the lives of others and serves as an inspiration to the society.
The impact of GIF’s interventions cannot be overstated, as the Foundation is said to be warming up to provide free healthcare services to people of Bakana Community in Degema Local Government Area of the state from 14th to 16th June, 2023.
National Network reporter, who was present during the Third Service at the church’s headquarters on Sunday, said the pastor humbly expressed the importance of education and the motivation behind funding the tuition fees for the stranded RSU students, emphasizing the significance of education in empowering individuals and building a better future for society as a whole.
The Coordinator of the George Izunwa Foundation (GIF), Chike Nwonodi, in a phone interview with National Network, elaborated on the activities of the Foundation.
“The Bakana Free Medicals is on the front burner as we speak. It’s a three-day event that would hold between June 14 to 16th. We have three programmes for this year. Number one is the Bakana free Medicare with over 2,500 expected beneficiaries.
“Second is a free scholarship that would come up in August and September, 2023 with free tuition for about 20 students. The third is another free medical in October with about 3,000 expected beneficiaries”.
As news of the pastor’s remarkable act spreads, it is expected that this inspiring story will encourage others to come forward and support education initiatives in their communities as Izunwa’s compassion serves as a beacon of hope, reminding everyone of the power of empathy and generosity in transforming lives.
