Ban On CDC, Youth Elections Still Effective, Says Chidi Lloyd
Chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards the enforcement of the ban on Community Development Committee (CDC) and Youth elections across the local government area.
The council chairman in a statement on Monday declared that the statewide ban on the election of community development committee and youth bodies by the Rivers State Government is still effective, stressing that anyone or group found violating the order will be made to face the full weight of the law.
Consequently, the local government chairman has declared as invalid the purported election or appointment of CDC and youth body by actors in Rumuekpe community and any other community in Emohua local government area without the approval of the local government authority, emphasizing that the state order empowers the local government to regulate the activities of the youths, the CDC and other sensitive organs of the community alike, until the ban is lifted by the State Government.
The Chairman directed law enforcement agencies to ensure maximum compliance with the directive and bring defaulters to book.
