Bible Society Commends First Baptist PH For Continued Support

The Bible Society of Nigeria Rivers/Bayelsa Area has lauded the First Baptist Church Port Harcourt for it’s faithful support to the Society.

The commendation was made by the Area, Chairman, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, BSN-SM while presenting Special Member Registration Certificate to the Immediate Past President of the Rivers Baptist Conference and the Resident Minister in charge of the Church, the Reverend Ebifaghe Sam Woko, Ph.D.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno said, “It is on record that the Church is always the first to celebrate the Annual Bible Week of the Society in the past 15 years,”.

Speaking further, he stated that, “it has also been the custom of the Church to always place order for Bibles and promptly paying their dues to the Port Harcourt Auxillary of the State”.

Continuing, the Area Chairman, further revealed that the Church had also been the number one supporter of the Society among other Baptist Churches in the Area.

Elder Ayo-Tamuno, while lauding the Church, stressed the need for it to step up its support for the purchase of Bibles from the Area.

He reiterated the call for Churches in the state to patronise the Area Office for their Bible supply in order to make it achieve the Bible distribution target set by the National.

The Chairman challenged the members to make it a duty to purchase a Bible every year to increase the Bible distribution of the Area.

He also appealed to the Church to direct its school to source their Revised Standard Version of the Bible from the BSN Area office.

Speaking later, the Pastor of the Church, Dr E. S Woko praised the efforts of the Society for making the Bible available and taking the front seat in the translation of the Bible into indigenous languages.

He assured the Society of the church’s continued support to achieve its aims and objectives and made him a Special Member of the Society.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of the Certificate by the Acting Amanyanabo of Kalabari, Alabo Dr Charles I. Numbere and presentation of Membership Form to the Church.
