Covid-19: Okala Lauds Gov Wike’ Competence, Slams LG Chairmen

As Nigerian Governors strategize to chart the way for the second phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief (Hon) Bob Chima Okala has commended Governor Nyesom Wike for the proactive steps he has taken since the incidence occurred in February, 2021.

He has also hailed the governor following his approach to the issue of ENDSARS.  In a recent interview with journalists in Port Harcourt, Chief Okala said Governor Wike has done a great deal of work for Rivers people in the health sector, especially during the beginning of Covid-19.

He expressed delight with the decision of the governor to proscribe IPOB and their activities in the state, noting that he is a great leader who has shown leadership ability and capacity since his assumption of office as the Executive Governor of the state.

On his assessment of the efforts of Local Government Chairmen in the health sector and the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, Chief Okala said: “I have not seen anything the LG Chairmen have done right from the beginning of Covid-19 since February”.

Speaking on the raging debate about the council chairmen getting a second term, Chief Okala said he was not impressed with what they Chairmen have done or achieved.

“I want to tell you that the chances of the LGA Chairmen are very slim.  In fact, their chances also depend on the governor of the state and the leadership of the political party and the people who elected them three years ago to decide their fate or future”, he said.

He also charged government officials and leaders at all levels to focus on the welfare and wellbeing of the masses by putting smiles on their faces.
