Ogoni Zone  Applauds Rivers CAN  Chairman

…As CAN State Chairman Inaugurates Exco

The three (3) Local Government Areas of Rivers State in the Ogoni axis including Gokana, Khana and Tai have successfully elected the Executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and have been inaugurated by the body’s state Chairman, Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa recently.

Speaking at the event which held at Bori, the CAN Chairman said he was excited and fulfilled at the rate which Christian leaders are supporting God’s work, adding that with the unity of purpose exhibited at the CAN national programme against the rising insurgence in the country.

Dr Dimkpa urged the Excos to close ranks and do God’s work diligently in order to leave a worthy legacy irrespective of their denominations.

According to him, “As children of God and followers of Christ Jesus, we need not to be distracted by the devil under any guise but to be united and achieve our goal against common enemies”. The CAN Chairman charged the Local Government Executives to be committed in their assignment and exhibit transparent leadership.

Respondings, the Gokana Local Government Excos Co-ordinator, Rt. Rev (Dr) B.M Needam (OAIC) thanked the CAN Chairman, Dr Dimkpa for his doggedness and steadfastness in his duties.

He said the CAN leadership in the state is consolidating the body for a greater heights, pointing out that with unity in the body of Christ, there is nothing the Christians can not achieve.

Also speaking, the Khana Local Government Excos CO-ordinator, Pastor Sa-Ue Barika (CPFN/PFN) was full of praises for the present CAN leadership especially for refusing to be distracted by those he described as enemies of progress. The Khana Coordinator said with Apostle Dimkpa’s determination, CAN in the State has gained more acceptance and popularity more than ever before and promised to further mobilize support for his leadership to achieve more for the body.

In his own response, the Tai Local Government Co-ordinator Rev. Lucky N. Yirakina (OAIC) thanked the CAN leadership in the state for the election and inauguration.

He made it clear that the humility, peaceful disposition of the state CAN  Chairman and the love he has for the things of God made it possible for Christian body to achieve so much within one year of his tenure.

He promised to emulate Apostle Dimkpa in this regards in reaching out to grassroots to ensure that every Christian leader is carried along in the scheme of things to the glory of God.

The CAN Local Government Executive for Gokana includes Rt. Rev (Dr) B.M Needam (AMP), Co-ordinator (OAIC), Rev. Canon Meezua Doonu, Asst. Co-ordinator (C.C.N), pastor Jude Vinyorne (PFN), Secretary ; Rev. Canon A.N. Vika (C.C.N), Asst Secretary; Rev. Sylvester Sunday, (CPEN) Treasurer and Cate. Jude Nyiedah (CSN), Head/Director of Department.

Head of family includes, Rt. Rev (Dr) B.M. Needam (Amp) (OAIC); Ven. David N. Dee-ue (C.C.N) and Rev Sylvester Sunday (C.P.F.N).

The CAN Local Government Executive for Khana includes, Pastor Sa-ue Barika (CPN/PFN), Coordinator; Rev. Sunday Nepba N.(CPN/PFN), Asst coordinator (O.A.I.C) Sup. Apostle Benjamin Dinee, Asst. Secretary; Pastor Friday G. Nornubari, (CCN) Director of social/PRO; Apostle Friday Kuegbo, (OAIC) Ecumenism Director and Anthony Gbarale, Welfare officer.

Others are Bari Letam Nzidee, Legal Adviser; Rev. Goodluck Deeyaa; (CCN) Apostle B.E Kenneth; (CCN) pastor M.M Ndor; (CPFN/PFN) Ven. N.S Menepue; (OAIC) Bishop Goddy Nne (TECAN/ECWA) and Ven. Waribo Fgo as Secretary.

Also speaking with newsmen at the event, the president of Ogoni Ministers Advocacy Forum, Rev. Canon, Joseph Johnbull Apostle described the leadership of Dimkpa in Rivers State CAN as unique because all the leaders of various churches are working with him.

He used the opportunity to advice the CAN Chairman to concentrate more on unity of the body and avoid dichotomy.

According to him, “we should see God as one and not as the way we presume him to be. The church is only a platform for us to get the awareness that there is God, advising that Christians should endeavour to work under one accord.”
