End of Road For Rivers Most Wanted Kidnapper

The Rivers state police command says the most wanted notorious kidnapper from Egamini Rundele, in Emohua Local Government Area(LGA), Ekwueme Brown Ike ,aka Lucifer has been killed by Men of the Operation Sting, in an Operation led by the Commander, Acp Shem Evans.

 Ekwueme Ike is said to be responsible for many of the kidnappings and hijack of commercial buses on the Ndele axis of the East/West Road.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Nnamdi Omoni in a press statement says the entire Rundele Community has been thrown into a wild jubilation following the death of the notorious.

Investigations by National Network revealed that the said Ekwueme was trailed to Bayelsa state by the men of Operation Sting in conjunction with a local vigilante outfit known as Rundele And Odegwu Security And Advisory Planning Committee (ROSPAC).We learned that the suspect engaged the Police in a shoot-out and he died in exchange of gunfire.

Inside source informed  that before he was trailed to Bayelsa state on Monday, He had been threatening to invade the community and unleash terror on the natives whom He accused of conniving with security agencies to chase him out of his camp.

Ekwueme is also said  to be the number one man of the dreaded  Deygbam  cult groups  in Emohua LGA. He is believed to be responsible for the arson attack on the house of former Secretary to Rivers State Government, Sampson Agbaru and other prominent indigenes of the community.

The cultist cum kidnapper had narrowly escaped death in the month of July this year when the Police in collaboration with the local vigilante stormed his camp in Rumuakunde in Emohua community. His close lieutenant known as ‘Abacha’ was killed during the operation by the Police.

He had relocated to Rumukakunde following joint operation by security operatives who dislodged him and his allies from the four camps that were used for detaining of kidnapped victims and logistics base.

We gathered that thirty –five of his gang members were killed in that operation and large arms and ammunition were also recovered.

Before the coming of Operation Sting and ROSPAC, the Ndele-Rumuji axis of East West road had witnessed high profile kidnap cases such  the kidnap of oil company workers in the month of May and killing of security personnel attached to the workers.
