The President of KAGOTE and Chief Executive Officer of Giolee Global Resources Ltd, Chief Lesi Maol, has strengthened the Ogoni music industry with a donation of musical equipment worth ₦15 million to legendary Ogoni music icon, Sir Kingdom Kombo.
The formal presentation and handover of documents and receipts took place in Ogoniland on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Maol encouraged Sir Kingdom Kombo to make judicious use of the equipment by producing more gospel music that glorifies God, enhances his professional output, and secures a better future for his family.
He expressed optimism that the new equipment would significantly improve the artist’s performances and position him to compete favourably on the global stage while projecting Ogoni songs and culture to greater heights.
Chief Maol also disclosed that although the musical sets were initially intended to be jointly paired by Sir Kingdom Kombo and Highlife Bobby, he would procure a separate set for Highlife Bobby to ensure both artistes operate independently and avoid any potential conflict of interest.
An overwhelmed Sir Kingdom Kombo described the gesture as life-changing, noting that the donation would transform his music production process, reduce operational stress, and elevate the quality of his work. He expressed deep appreciation to Chief Maol for the support and called on the Ogoni people to continue praying for him, describing the KAGOTE president as a generous and compassionate leader committed to the prosperity of Ogoniland.
Chief Lesi Maol, who is also the founder of Satisfaction Food Village, has built a reputation for sustained philanthropy in Ogoniland. Over the years, he has supported students in tertiary institutions with free school fees and scholarships, organized free medical outreaches, distributed Christmas gifts to entire communities, empowered local entrepreneurs, and remains one of the highest employers of labour in the area.
The donation is widely seen as a significant boost to the creative sector in Ogoniland, reinforcing ongoing efforts to promote indigenous music and cultural expression within and beyond Rivers State.
