Alleged Cultists Kill Two Vigilantes In Emohua
Suspected cultists was said to have killed vigilance group members last Monday and Sunday in Egbeda and Obelle Communities in Emohua Local Government area of Rivers State.
We gathered that the suspected cultists in their numbers invaded Egbeda community and laid ambush at pipeline area of the community where the member of the vigilance group was Killed.
The stakeholders of the community were in a meeting when our correspondent called to sought clarification on the incident.
They promised to get back to our reporter but was yet to do so as at time of filing this report. In another development, gunmen suspected to be cultists was reported to have killed ‘Whiteman’ the leader of vigilance group in Obelle Town, Emohua LGA last Sunday morning and carted away his corpse.
Community sources who craved for anonymity disclosed to our correspondent that the vigilance group leader was abducted in a bush path by his assailants and taken into the bush where he was reportedly killed.
The source explained that members of local vigilance group who went inside the bush in search of their leader saw blood stains on the path he took but could not find him as his mobile phone was also switched off.
Our source revealed that many natives has deserted the village as at press time.
When contacted, the acting spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko said she will get back to us as soon as she gets details on both Incidents.
Recall that unknown gunmen last month killed a member of vigilance group known as ‘Awuse’ in Obelle Community and two other persons.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko in her reaction then, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday dispatched six patrol vans to the community to beef up security.
