Diobu Cult Violence: Police Move To Apprehend Perpetrators

The Rivers State Police Command says it is investigating the shootings occasioned by supremacy battle between suspected cultists last week Thursday night at Akwuzu Street and Education Bus Stop in Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt which resulted in the death of one person and another who sustained gunshot injury.

The acting spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko, disclosed to journalists that the command was investigating the development with a view to arresting the suspects.

Recall that one person was shot dead last Thursday night following a supremacy battle between two cult groups in Diobu.

An eyewitness, Ntero who craved for anonymity told our correspondent that suspected cultists shot an unidentified youngman suspected to be a rival at Akwuzu Street, at about 8:30pm.

The eyewitness disclosed that the man who was shot, ran some distance and later fell down while the gunmen entered their vehicle and sped off.

A vigilante member in the area told our reporter that the gunmen shot another young man at Education bus stop but the victim ran away with the gunshot injury.

We gathered that a police patrol van attached to Diobu Divisional Police headquarters Mile 1, came to the scene and reportedly evacuated the corpse of the slain suspected cultist.

 The Police are said to have intensified patrol in the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order and  possible attacks reprisals.
