Agubia Community Jubilates As Engr Offor Donates Two 500KVA Transformers

It was jubilation galore as youths, elders, opinion leaders and women organizations staged a dancing competition following the arrival of two brand new 500KVA transformers at Umuagubia community playground in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The event which was a formal reception in honour of Engr. Grant Offor to thank him for putting solar street lights all round the community as well as grading internal roads witnessed to their surprise a truck conveying two brand new 500KVA transformers to the venue of the on-going ceremony.

Speaking to newsmen on the development, the organizing committee chairman, Mr Alphonsius Egbule said the community has been in darkness for the past four years without any assistance from anybody even after several failed promises from local government authorities, adding that Agubia Community is the only community in Omagwa without electricity and thanked Engr Grant Offor for surprising them with all the basic needs of the community.

Also speaking, Engr.  Jackson Offor observed that love, unity and peaceful coexistence of everyone is needed at this point in time and urged relevant stakeholders to make necessary sacrifices for the rapid development of the community.

In their separate remarks, the youth chairman, Mr. Promise Ojiowhor, Secretary, and Vice Chairperson of Agubia daughters, Mrs Gloria Offia  and Estha Reuben noted that Engr Grant Offor is an illustrious son of Omagwa and a philanthropist par excellent whose kind gesture cuts across other communities in Omagwa, adding that same man is currently sponsoring many young men and women in higher institutions while a good number of others are undergoing various skills acquisitions training they prayed God to continue to bless him with good health, prolong his life so as to continue to benefit from him.

In his response, Engr, Grant Offor said he is not tired of helping his and friends as long as he has the opportunity of doing so and commended the organizing committee of the ceremony for a job well done and released funds to install the two brand new 500KVA transformers.

The event was climaxed with the presentation of various gift items from different groups in the community.
