Prophet Alleges Threat To Life Over Buhari Prophesy
…Sends SOS To Wike, Others
The General Overseer of Voice of Freedom Synagogue, Igbo-Etch in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Prophet Udeme John Bassey has alleged harassment, intimidation and threat to his life following some prophetic statements he made about President Mohammadu Buhari and his fate in the 2019 General Election.
The pastor who stormed the newsroom of National Network in Port Harcourt on Tuesday with a passionate call on Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and other spirited individuals to come to his aid, said his predicament began early this year when God gave him instructions to warn President Buhari that his efforts to seek re-election in 2019 is an effort in futility as he would not succeed.
He said the injunction from God came after he spent five days praying and fasting for revelations concerning the 2010 General Election.
However, Bassey claimed that the ‘divine warning’ came with a caveat, to the effect that the only condition for God to ‘reverse his anger against Buhari and other self-seeking politicians’ would be for him (Buhari) to choose a woman as his running mate.
“Ever since I delivered that message in church and through media publications, it had been one harassment or the other, especially from some suspected members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“My aged mother and a sister died from shocks when news got to them that I have been killed by a mob”, the pastor alleged, adding that though he survived the mob action which took place August 31, 2018, the attack left severe damage to his legs.
Asked why he never reported the incident to the police, the prophet raised and dropped his shoulders in a resigned gesture, adding “I am a man of God. Anyone who touches me has touched God’s anointed, and that is why I leave vengeance to him”.
The fearless cleric, who is popularly called ‘Otimkpu One’ also, lamented his homelessness following claims of forceful eviction by his landlord whom he also alleged to be a staunch supporter of the President.
“He called me a rebel and accused me of working for the PDP and bringing fake prophesies to offend the APC and satisfy the governor and his party leaders. He threw me and my family out of his place, forcing us to squat in the church”, he cried, stressing that he is not a politician and neither a member of any political party.
“My sin is that I am an avid supporter of Governor Wike and Bro. Felix Obuah. Governor Wike because of the massive development he has brought to the State within a space of three and half years. Bro. Obuah because of the relative peace he brought to his party compared to the rigors and rancor in other political parties across the country”, he said.
