NCS Salutes Wike Over Nomination For Digital Governor Of Year Award

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) says it is elated at the nomination of Rivers State governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the Digital Governor of the Year 2022 during the National Technology Merit Award (NITMAA).

The NCS in a statement said it was elated at the prospect following monumental milestones achieved by the Rivers State governor to the ICT sector in the state.

On ICT in the State, the society listed some of the contributions made by Governor Wike to include:

 Implementation of computerization of all the Ministries, Department & Agencies including all State owned Media Houses; E-tax collection and administration fully implemented; Payroll fully digitized; Head of Service, Civil Service Commission and all Human Resources activities fully Digitized; All 5 Tertiary Institutions (Universities and Polytechnics) fully digitized and E-government and e-governance in place in the state.

The Society also noted that Governor Wike sponsored the accreditation of all Computer Science and related disciplines in all tertiary institutions in the state; Stood out and insisted on the complete digitization of the electoral system including transmission of results electronically, adding that the governor did that for the good of all Nigerians.

“He fathers NCS in the state, he appoints/employ our members into positions of trust. Fully funds every digitization projects presented to him including digital billboards, security cameras etc.  He made 24/7 CCTV compulsory for schools, MDAs, hotels, bars, restaurants establishments and companies in the state.

“He sponsored our WizKids Competition and other state competition that makes tech skills competitive amongst our youths and children”, the Society further declared.
