2023: Rivers Labour Party Commences State-Wide Campaigns
It was Jamboree of sort as the Rivers State Chapter of the Labour Party Kick-Started its electioneering campaign ahead of the forth coming general election on Monday January 23rd 2023, at Eleme in Eleme Local Government Area with the appreciative electorates shouting and singing “Obikerenke Obi” and yes we are obedients”.
The long convoy of the ecstatic obedients’ first stopped over at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Akpajo Clan, HRH Emere Olungwe Fineman (JP) One-eh-eta, Akpajo XIV for his Royal blessings, for a successful outing and electoral victory. Speaking at the palace, the LP gubernatorial candidate, Comrade, Chief (Mrs) Beatrice Itubo said the party decided to begin with Eleme Local Government Area because of the enormous contributions of the area to the well-being of Nigeria in general.
Comrade (Mrs) Itubo urged the people to join forces with the Labour Party in the state to rescue the people from the shackles of bad government and corruption and pledged to create jobs for the teeming youths in the state as part of her 10 point agenda if elected into office.
She particularly promised to liaise with the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs to restructure the security architecture of the state to guarantee safety of lives and property. The LP standard bearer equally promised to attract more investors to the state by collaborating effort with industrialists to stop double taxation and approval of rebate given them to have a conducive enabling environment for business to strive.
The highlight of the palace ceremony was the prayer and libation of the Paramount Ruler for the successful and peaceful outings of the campaign train as well as its overall electoral victory at the polls.
Responding at the event, the Akpajo Clan Paramount Ruler promised that he and his Council of Chiefs will do all within their power to support any course that will restore the country from total collapse and prayed for the LP’s electoral victory.
Addressing the jubilant traders at the popular Agbonchia Ultra Modern Market roundabout in Eleme, as well as at the trailer park market at Onne, the LP guber candidate promised to grant them soft loan for the growth of their small scale business.
She equally promised to ensure prompt payment of entitlements to retired workers and as well clear the backlog of pensioners entitlements owed them by the outgoing Wike Administration as a labour leader, who have compassion for their plight. This she said was in a bid to give them a sense of belonging for serving the state meritoriously with their youthful energy.
It is interesting to note that despite the negative effort of one of the party’s candidates (name withheld) who indeed was discovered to be a mole in the labour party, the campaigns was described as very successful as confirmed by the enthusiastic crowd.
Highlight of the unit-to-unit campaigns was the distribution of the specially designed aprons to the traders by Mrs. Itubo personally. In a chat with newsmen the Eleme campaign coordinator, Comarde (Mrs) Mbote O. Ngokanya and her Onne Counterpart Engr. Chibuike Nwogu confirmed that they had hectic time countering the damages caused by the suspect. They confessed that the electorates have been fully mobilized to vote for the Labour Party Candidates to end their sufferings, hardship and insecurity in the land unlike their opponents who are playing the outdated ethnic and religious politics, a strategy which they noted, is working for the “obedients” as the people are desirous of real change of their situation.
