LG Vice Chairmen Forum Advises Women To Emulate Mrs. Okpoko’s Lifestyle
The Local Government Council Vice Chairmen Forum of Rivers State has advised women in the State to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of Late (Mrs.) Patience Johnson Okpoko, mother of the Secretary of the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Samuel Okpoko.
The Chairperson and the Secretary of the Forum, Hon. (Mrs.) Maureen Fiberesima and Hon. (Mrs.) Christiana Tamunobereton-ari and one other member, Hon. Lady Uche Ken Ndukwu, who spoke with newsmen at the burial ceremony of Late (Mrs.) Okpoko in Okrika at the weekend, said that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation by all women.
They said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in Rivers State is happy to identify with the Okpoko family for producing a worthy son in the person of Hon. Samuel Okpoko, the State PDP Secretary, saying that the PDP in Rivers State has achieved an enviable height because of Okpoko’s commitment to the party.
The Chairperson of the Vice Chairmen Forum of Rivers State, Hon. (Mrs.) Maureen Fiberesima who is also the Vice Chairman of Port-Harcourt City Local Government Area, described the Late Mrs. Patience Okpoko as a woman of peace and appealed to women to emulate her since peace is needed for development in the home and in the society.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Forum and deputy Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Christiana Tamunobereton-ari, said that the Late (Mrs.) Patience Okpoko was an embodiment of motherly qualities which affected members of her immediate family and those who encountered her, saying that she will be greatly missed for her motherly advice.
She said that bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party were at the burial ceremony of the deceased because of her exemplary lifestyle and the fact that she was a mother of note and appealed to the bereaved family to take solace in God.
On her part, the Vice Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Lady Uche Ken Ndukwu, said that it would be difficult to fill the vacuum left by Late (Mrs.) Patience Okpoko, adding that she will be remembered for the moral upbringing of her children and her fear of God.
She described the deceased as a woman of discipline, who ensured that her children were not involved in any bad behaviour.
According to her, Hon. Okpoko, the State PDP Secretary and son of the deceased has been very committed to the PDP, saying that he treats every matter with seriousness, and noting that his mother is being celebrated for her good qualities.
Hon. Lady Ndukwu said that the coming together of all Vice Chairmen in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State who are all women meant that women are ready to support the PDP in the State and play pivotal roles to ensure the victory of Governor Nyesom Wike and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.
