Imo Community Mourns As Body Of Late PDP Stalwart Goes Home, Friday
As the remains of a one-time National Chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), late Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu makes its final journey to his native Amuzi, Dim-Na-Nume-Isu Community in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State on Friday, October 12, 2018, reports say all arrangements have been concluded to ensure befitting burial for the man who symbolized a shining light to his people during his life time.
As part of the arrangements, the main access into the community has been graded to accommodate the huge traffic of vehicles and personalities who are coming to pay their last respects.
Speaking on the sidelines of last minute preparations by the immediate family of the late politician, industrialist and businessman, the National Chairman of Amuzi Progressives Union (APU), Mazi Obinna Otuonye on Monday told journalists that aside the commendable arrangements put in place by the deceased’s family, the larger Amuzi community have complimented efforts towards a hitch-free burial, as well as providing adequate security for the august visitors.
“Amuzi will literally be hosting the entire country in view of the social, economic and political status of our late brother. He was a national personality hence his death is a monumental loss to our community. We are in mourning and a vacuum that may not be easily filled for a long time to come, has been created”, said the APU Chairman.
“Without mincing words, I’d say that Amuzi and indeed Dim-Na-Nume community has lost a rare gem. He was one-time President General of Dim-Na-Nume Development Union, he was the pride of our community, an iconic figure and leader par-excellence”, Otuonye eulogized the deceased, while urging all indigenes, friends, in-laws and well-wishers of the community to ensure to return home to give the late Iwuanyanwu a deserved farewell.
A peep into the life and times of the late Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu showed that he devoted his early life in political harmonization, peace and reconciliation, charity and work for humanity.
Having been so blessed by God, the late Iwuanyanwu, among projects gifted to the Amuzi community, in 2016 built the New Covenant Anglican Church, Amuzi to give the people a befitting place of worship.
A former journalist with Radio Nigeria and the defunct Champion Newspapers, he was the publisher of an Abuja celebrity magazine, ‘Democracy Confidential’ as well as Public Relations consultant, author and Group Chairman, Sungold Conglomerates and founder of Zara Foundations.
He was also pioneer Chairman, Unilag Alumni Association, Abuja branch. The late Iwuanyanwu contested the National Chairmanship of the PDP in 2008 and National Publicity Secretary in the 2012/2015 National Convention.
