NAFEST Rivers 2018: Opening Ceremony Holds Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 23, 2018
The long-awaited opening ceremony of the National Festival of Arts and Culture, tagged NAFEST Rivers 2018 shall hold tomorrow, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A statement by the Chairman of the Festival Media/Publicity Committee and Rivers State Information Commissioner, Barr. Emma Okah said the event with the theme, Nigeria: Our Festival, Our Heritage would be declared open by the State Governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
The Chairman added that the opening ceremony which would begin at 2.00 p.m, shall have in attendance Commissioners of Culture and Tourism, Heads of Culture and History Bureau as well as Directors of Councils for Arts and Culture from the 36 States of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to Barr. Okah, also expected at the opening ceremony are Heads of Parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.
The statement further added that the Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State were expected to lead their local government delegation to the event.
The State Information Commissioner who also doubles as the Chairman, Media/Publicity Committee of NAFEST Rivers 2018, enjoined the good people of Rivers State to turn out in their numbers and oblige the august visitors the usual traditional hospitality of Rivers people.
