The Ekingbo Council of Chiefs in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area has apologized to the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council Prince Solomon Abel Eke over the unruly behavior of their children following the Nkpolu flood protest on Monday.
The delegation led by Chief Billy Owhonda who visited the council Chairman at the council secretariat, said his Royal Majesty Eze Worlu Wodo sent them to apologise to the Chairman on behalf of the community, stating that Ekingbo as a peace loving people quite appreciate the efforts of the Chairman for his prompt response aimed at making peace on hearing the protest but regretted that the protest was highjacked by hoodlums, thereby causing embarrassment to the council Chairman and the state government.
“It is not in our character to disobey constituted authority” Chief Billy Owhonda added.
He appealed to Prince Solomon Eke to extend their apology to the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and disclosed that a committee has been set up by the Paramount Ruler to look into the matter and profer lasting solution.
Responding, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council Prince Solomon Abel Eke while thanking the delegation for coming said the incident was avoidable if not for anger.
Prince Solomon Eke noted that himself and his team were at the center of the incident and thanked God that they came out unhurt, even though they incurred damages.
The Obalga Chairman who commended His Royal Majesty Eze Worlu Wodo for setting up a committee to look into the matter, promised to work in synergy with the community to provide remedial measures to tackle the problem.
The delegation of the Ekingbo Council of Chiefs include Chief Bright Amaewhule, Hon. Alechi Wamandah, Chief R A Chinda (Head Chief of Nkpolu), and Chief G O Chinwo.
Also in attendance were Chief C Y Kamalu and Hon. Prince Aleruchi Emenike (Councillor Ward 12).
