The body of a political icon and business mogul, Chief Sir Maxwell Tasie Amadi, “Eze-Igo I of Isiokpo” was laid to rest at his country home, Ogbodo Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State over the weekend amid pomp and pageantry.
The week long burial activities witnessed the get-together of the old and new breed -politicians across the board, even those political enemies who had lost contact of themselves had an opportunity to shake hands and exchange pleasantries as they pay their last respect to the fallen hero.
Preaching the sermon at the funeral ceremony which took place at the UPE Government School, Adanta Isiokpo, Major (Ven) H. Ugwu of St. Jude’s Military Church, Port Harcourt made it known that death is not the end itself but a means to an end as according to him, after death follows the judgment of God.
The clergy made it clear that Hell and Heaven is real and that it is one’s records here on earth that could determine his destination hereafter.
“It is important for mankind to exhibit a good lifestyle and leave a worthy legacy by our action towards one another in course of our relationship as well as with God.
The man of God admonished Christians to emulate the life of Late Maxwell Amadi as a generous and cheerful giver both to God’s work and to his fellow beings.
Also speaking the Rivers State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in his tribute said the late icon was a dependable ally who has never shaken his support towards the governor’s political ambition.
“At a point in time, Chief Max Amadi asked me for one favour, which was for his community road from Isiokpo roundabout to Ogbodo community to be tarred and this I gladly obliged him in reciprocity”.
The governor further promised not to forsake the family members the late hero left behind but would continue to support them in any way possible.
In an abridged biography of Late Max Amadi read by his first son, Barr. Elloka Tasie Amadi, the late hero was described as a man of many parts in many ways and intelligently so. Born 76 years ago, Late Chief Amadi was further described as philanthropic gentleman with a difference as he was always empathizing with and mix freely with the less privileged in the society.
He was said to have been born into a modest family without a wooden spoon but was determined to break through which he did.
He was a practicing Christian an astute businessman, a politician, a statesman and a community leader who gave equal attention to all as well as a caring husband and loving father to all his children.
Ikwerre Chiefs and Elders Forum, a campaign group that worked assidiciously for the election and is still working for the re-election of Gov Nyesom Wike, described Late Chief Max Amadi as one of the pillars of that organization.
In an interview, Prince Paul Wonodi, the National Coordinator of the Forum, said “Max Resources” as he was fondly called, would be greatly missed in their circle.
