Fmr. Rivers Gov, Leaders, Honour Lolo Nworgu At Funeral
A congregation of notable figures, including former Rivers State Governor, Chief Rufus Ada-George, former Secretary to the State Government, Sampson Ngeregbara, and Senator Magnus Abe, gathered on Saturday to honor the life of the late Lolo Eunice Nne Nworgu.
The funeral ceremony, held in her hometown of Egberu-Ndoki, was a poignant reflection of her impact on family, community, and faith.
Lolo Nworgu, who passed away at the age of 60, was fondly remembered as the “Egberu First Lady.” A devoted member of the Anglican Church, she was celebrated for her unwavering Christian faith and her significant contributions to the growth of both her parish and the wider community.
In a heartfelt tribute, her husband, Chief Emmanuel Nworgu, Agunechemba I of Egberu, expressed deep gratitude for the life they shared. “I thank God for the kind of wife I married,” he said. “Lolo was my rock, supporting me in every endeavor. My only regret is that she did not live long enough to enjoy the fruits of her labor.”
Chief Nworgu acknowledged the presence of esteemed guests, thanking them for their support during this difficult time. “Your presence here today speaks volumes,” he remarked, extending his appreciation to community leaders and clergy who stood by the family.
In a moving tribute, their daughter, Mrs. Clara Isaiah-Green described her mother as a virtuous woman whose qualities of patience, prayer, and love left an indelible mark on her children. “My mother was a person everyone wished to know,” Clara said. “Her outstanding character and eloquence made her a grassroots mobilizer, and she inspired many.”
Clara also expressed gratitude to the dignitaries who traveled from near and far to pay their respects, including Amb. Desmond Akawor and his wife, RT Hon. Chisom Dike, and Hon. Chisom Gbali. The atmosphere at the ceremony was one of solidarity and remembrance, as attendees reflected on the lasting legacy of Lolo Nworgu, a woman whose life was a testament to love, faith, and community service.
