CAN Urged To Be Focused On Set Goals

The Christians Association of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter has been advised to avoid distraction and be focused on set goals in order to reposition the body in the interest of all.

Most Revd (Dr) Sunday I.O. Agwu (JP), the Archbishop, Archdiocese of Port-Harcourt Methodist Church Nigeria gave the advice Monday April 8, 2019 when the leadership of CAN led by its Chairman, Special Apostle (Dr.) Stanley Dimkpa paid him a courtesy visit in his office in course of its evangelism programme this weekend.

He also told the CAN leadership to avoid the temptation of fighting back at those who didn’t want them to be on the saddle but to carry everybody along in the scheme of things.

He said: “Chairman, it is important you lead all the Christians to the promised land through your activities and programmes and God helping me, I will continue to lend my support where needed”. The Methodist Archbishop also advised Dr. Dimkpa not to compromise on what God has sent him to do with the mandate, adding that the Almighty God that called him will give him the necessary enablement to conquer.

He said: “No matter your age, once you have been chosen by God, He will give you the enablement to achieve set goals”.

The man of God specifically called on the CAN leadership to speak out when things are going wrong in the society, saying that if truly Rivers State is a Christian State as professed, it then means that the people have high expectation from the body.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State chapter informed their host that they were on the visit to identify and sensitize  members of the need to come together and work towards  unity of purpose if the Christian body must move forward.

He added that one of their assignments since they took over the mantle of leadership was to organize programmes that brought everybody together, which he noted, one of them was the fasting and prayer session that was organized for a peaceful 2019 general election in the state.

Dr. Dimkpa made it clear that God really speedily answered their prayers which was why according to him, the enemies’ plans could not materialized exactly the way it was intended, assuring that God works in a mysterious way.

The CAN Chairman used the opportunity to congratulate the Rivers State Governor, Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on his victory at the just concluded polls.

He said: “It is most worthy to note that your success as the governor-elect of Rivers State is divine and the act of God”.

The chairman recalled that the churches had earnestly prayed to God for a peaceful, credible and violence-free elections and above all to give the state a governor of His choice that is next to His heart who will continue to give good governance to the state.

He said that he appreciates God on behalf of other Christians in the state for answering their prayers.

He promised that the body will continue to support the Wike administration in line with the divine dictates of the scriptures (1 Peter 2:13-14).
