Late Mrs. Ohia Goes Home Amid Tributes

Dignitaries from all walks of life over the weekend gathered in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area to bid farewell to late Mrs. Beatrice Asama Ohia, mother of Hon Prince Ohia, a Special Adviser to Rivers State Governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Late Beatrice Ohia, whose demise occurred on December 30, 2019 was buried after an open air funeral service conducted by the Church of God Mission Int’l Inc, Omoku at St Stephen’s Primary School field Omoku.

The road to her final journey began on Friday with a service of songs held at her husband’s residence in Omoku.

Meanwhile, guests as well as relations, friends and well-wishers of the deceased poured tributes, extolling the sterling virtues of the late Mrs. Beatrice Ohia.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in his tribute said his heart and prayers are with his Special Adviser, Prince Ohia Obia as he struggles to come to terms with the reality of the irreparable loss.

Governor Wike said he although he never got to know much about the deceased in person, but said he was told she was highly spiritual and a treasure of kindness and warmth.

“As a Christian, she was said to have served God with devotion and radiated love to everyone who related with her.  She was indeed a mother to be proud of”, the governor said.

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described the deceased as a jewel of inestimable value and enjoined those she left behind to take solace in the Lord as she had dedicated her entire life in the service of the Almighty God.

 Ifeanyi Nwabrije, a former Councilor with ONELGA Council described the deceased as a caring mother and advised the children to emulate her good legacy. “Anytime you come around her, she gives out the little she had”, he said.

In the same vein, Chairman, 2019 Rivers Governorship Candidates Forum, Sam Kemka Ihunwo urged the living to live a life worthy of emulation.

According to him, what matters most in life is the life you have lived for others to emulate

Top dignitaries that graced the occasion include State Chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah, Hon. Nathaniel Uwaji, Hon. Chukwu Shadrack Ogbogu, Hon. Christian Ahiakwo, Hon. Hope Ikiriko among others.
