Five students of the department of Journalism and Media Studies of the University of Port Harcourt, Confidence Chiamaka Egeonu, Godslove Dautari Akpe, MaryJane Chisimdi Achebe and two others have benefitted from Boing Luxury Estate Scholarship scheme for their outstanding academic performance.
The trio of Confidence, Godslove and MaryJane won the highly and keenly coveted award for scoring a GPA of 4.0 and above ahead of their colleagues.
The scholarship awards were presented to the lucky winners Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Faculty seminar room during a practical workshop on property reporting organized by the department to mark the event. The three recipients expressed their joy and thanked God for the great fortune.
Egeonu Confidence Chiamaka, who secured a job that day with the Boing Luxury Estate through the award, expressed her appreciation. “I am very happy and forever grateful to God for this opportunity.
The scholarship is a source of inspiration that motivates me to work even harder, she declared.”
She encouraged other students to remain focused and put more efforts to their studies.
On her part, Akpe Godslove Dautari, described the scholarship as a recognition of her dedication. “I feel honored and grateful. It is a recognition of the effort, consistency, and sacrifice of my academic journey,” she said. According to her, the award has motivated her to set higher goals and stay intentional.
She advised students to stay focused, consistent, and measure progress by their own goals, not others. “Hard work, discipline, and resilience still open doors. You don’t need to be perfect; you just need to be persistent”, she concluded.
Achebe MaryJane Chisimdi said she felt blessed, favored, and very excited to be so selected.
She encouraged students facing academic difficulties to rely on God’s grace, attend lectures regularly, do their assignments, and sign the attendance consistently. She also urged them to research beyond class materials, challenge themselves, and stay determined.
Boing Luxury Estate is into property management and construction and floats the scholarship scheme to promote academic excellence among journalism students. The event underscored the company’s commitment to supporting future journalists and fostering professional growth within the department.
