Oba Of Ogbaland Commends FCE(T) Omoku Over Peace
The present leadership of Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State has been given a pat on the back for the undisrupted academic and administrative activities as well as peace, unity and on-going developmental projects in the College.
The Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland, His Eminence, Sir (Dr) Chukumela Nnam Obi II (OON, JP) made the commendation when Principal Officers of the College led by the Provost, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri paid him an Easter visit at his palace at Omoku recently.
The Ogba Monarch who is a fellow of the College was particularly happy over the full re-accreditation of three (3) Degree Programmes which were denied accreditation since 2016 by National Universities Commission (NUC). On-going negotiations to commence fencing of the Permanent Site (Campus II), Roads Constructions in both campuses and electrification of the permanent site among others.
He described the Provost as a silent achiever and game changer sent by Almighty God to restore the dignity of the College which is the only Federal presence in the area and appealed to all to support Dr. Ikenyiri to succeed in developing the school.
The Eze Ogba used the visit to condole with the staff and students of Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku on the demise of their former Provost, Prof. Chief Sir Addison Mark Wokocha noting that the passing on of the erudite scholar was a big loss to the people of Ogba Ethnic Nationality as he was one of the pillars of Ogba people.
Earlier, the Provost, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri had told the Oba that the visit was to brief him on progresses made so far in the College such as the ongoing plans to commence fencing of permanent site, full re-accreditation of three lost Degree programmes, infrastructural development, stocking of current books and journals in both main College and departmental/libraries moves to have English Studies, Social Studies, Economics, Primary Education, Psychology, Guidance and Counselling as well as Physical and Health Education at the Degree level from next academic session among others.
He also told the Royal Father that the College which had her last convocation in 2010 will organise convocation this year for all graduants from 2011 to 2019 both at the NCE and Degree levels and gave special appreciation to the FME, NCCE, NUC, NDDC, UNN, TETFund, Ministries of Finance, Budget and Planning, the host Communities for their supports, cooperation and contributions to the College.
In his vote of Thanks, the Registrar of the College, Dr. Liverpool Eboh Onyije thanked the Eze Ogba for all his assistance to the institution and promised that the present leadership of the School will do its best to move the College forward in terms of progress, peace and development.
