Suspected Killers Of Omunnakwe Apprehended – Police
Two suspected gunmen who allegedly shot and killed late Benson Omunnakwe of Oro-Akwor Community in Mgbuoshimini in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State last week have been arrested and are helping the police in their investigation.
The Police Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni made this disclosure in a chat with newsmen in his Port Harcourt.
DSP Omoni assured Rivers people and residents that the police were on top of every tactics of the criminals.
According to the police image maker, what the police require is useful information to tackle the challenges.
It would be recalled that late Mr. Omunnakwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who actually contested for a seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly in the last election was reportedly watching a football match that week last Wednesday when he suddenly got a call to come over to his house in the Agip Estate for an urgent message only to be confronted by his assailants who wasted no time in executing their mission. Many sympathizers who were interviewed said the death had nothing to do with politics adding that the incident was not unconnected with community issues.
The villagers were seen discussing the issue in hush voices, as they reasoned that nobody knows whose turn is next, stressing that the problem of the Oro-Akwor Mgbuoshimini Community has defiled every known solution.
