NDDC MD, ED In EFCC Net Over Alleged N2.8bn Withdrawal
The Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Professor Nelson Brambaifa, was on Monday invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.
Also invited for questioning by the EFCC over alleged financial impropriety was the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the NDDC, Chris Oyirindah.
It was learnt that the NDDC managing director and the commission’s EFDA were involved in the alleged withdrawal of N2.8bn between two weeks ago and last week.
“They withdrew about N2.8bn over the counter; they withdrew the money cash. That was why they invited them,” a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
When contacted, the Director, Corporate Affairs of the NDDC, Mr Charles Odili, confirmed that the managing director and EDFA of the commission were invited by the EFCC.
Odili said, “They were invited to make clarifications and you know that parastatals in this country; once in a while, they have to come to clear some grey areas. The EFCC does not know all things. So, there might be some financial things they might want to have full understanding of. I think that was why they were invited.”
When our correspondent contacted the EFCC Public Relations Officer, Tony Orilade, he said he was not aware of the invitation of the two NDDC directors.
