Foundation Set Up To Immortalize Late Joe Blankson

The family of late Joe Blankson who died while rescuing people involved in a boat mishap along the Bakana Creek  last year, has fixed Monday, July 29, 2019 for the inauguration and launching of a foundation and Swimming Academy, successfully set up in honour of late hero.

Making this known while fielding questions from journalists, the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Mercy Joe-Blankson who incidentally is the Chairman of the Joe Blankson Foundation, disclosed that the event which is billed to hold by 9.00 am at P.H Club, 31 Forces Avenue Old GRA Port Harcourt is in remembrance of one year of her late husband’s death.

She further revealed that apart from the immortalization, the Foundation will also be used to teach children, including adults some of the swimming techniques and safety procedures needed for maritime travel.

She however added that against all odds, the family of the late Blankson has resolved to prevent and pray that no other person or family will ever experience this kind of avoidable pain and loss again in the state.

She nevertheless seized the opportunity to call on all and sundry to see reason to come forward to commemorate with the late ‘Blanksons’ sacrifices’ by being part of the unveiling of the Foundation and Swimming Academy which no doubt, promises to be very memorable.

Meanwhile, a massive road walk exercise has been billed to hold on Saturday July 27th 2019 starting from U.T.C Bus stop – Garrison Junction by 6am as part of the activities lined up to remember the late Joe Blankson even as a whooping sum of N200,000 is at stake to be won among the eventual 1st , 2nd and 3rd persons (men and women, boys and girls) that will participate in exercise at the end of the day.

Following these events would be a thanksgiving service in honour of the late Joe Blankson on Sunday July 28, 2019 at Kings Chapel Church Close to BMH Hospital.
