Rivers State Security Trust Fund Underway

In line with Governor’s vision on security, the Speaker Rivers State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani has sponsored a Bill seeking to establish a security trust fund in the State.
The Bill which is titled “Rivers State Security Trust Fund Bill,2019 has scaled through first reading on the floor of Rivers State House of Assembly.
Presenting the Bill unbehalf of the sponsor, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Martin Amaewhule disclosed that the Bill if passed into law would among other things establish a trust fund which shall be the depository of monies for security in the State while part of the fund shall be reserved for training and retraining of security personnel.
He further said that the objective of the trust shall be to provide money for the acquisition and deployment of security equipments such as human, material and financial resources that shall be found necessary for the effective function of all Federal, State, Local Government and other security agencies operating in the State.
Meanwhile, the, House has constituted over 25 House Committees to fully take charge of oversight functions of the 9th Assembly.
The speaker of the house, Ikuiny Owaji Ibani while announcing the Committees tasked them on effective delivery and urged each committee to work towards legislative success of the 9th Assembly.
The constituted committees include Public Account Committee headed by Major Jack, Public Complains and Petition, headed by Evans Bipi, Information and Training headed by Enemi George, Works headed by Michael Chinda, Power headed by Abinye Pepple amongst others.
