An atmosphere filled with tension and trepidation may have been enacted over a disputed piece of land located at Ordu Street,Rumuola- Stadium Link road even as a former Senator is said to have deployed means within his powers to ward off persons and other properties on the controversial land.
The 7-plot of land located just beside the South-South Filling Station at Rumuola became a subject of controversy with a former Senator claiming ownership on one hand and another personality which unconfirmed report said is the owner of the building housing Metro Digital cable on the same axis.
According to our source, the disputed land had caused mayhem last week when a car dealer said to have contacted the other party for the lease of the frontage of the property so as to display cars for sale. But unknown to the dealer, information about the deal and the presence of ‘Tokunbo’ cars got to the former Senator who acted swiftly and allegedly sent his ‘boys’ to assert his claim as the right owner. Our source claimed that the ‘boys’ sent by the Senator smashed the windshields of close to eight exotic cars on parade making many wonder what may have transpired.
Further investigation by this medium revealed that a woman who goes by the name Joy Violet had entered into a lease agreement for the portion of the disputed land in order to display the cars she hoped to resell. We gathered that the incident jolted the woman who cried out to the public through the social media, stating how she decided to go into the business with the hope of vending for her family.
The development assumed a dramatic turn when another party laying claim to the land allegedly went ahead to embark on rebuilding the structure on the site and putting up a fence, which got to the notice of the Senator again and was said to have moved in personally with excavators amidst police presence and boys loyal to him.
We gathered that the excavators moved in Monday night and destroyed part of the structure on the disputed land and also destroyed part to the fence.
Our source claimed that the senator signalled his boys to stop demolition of structures on the land after receiving a call from certain quarters said to have prevailed on him to sheath his sword. He confirmed that the incident happened right in the presence of his rival over the disputed land who came in company of police van from Eneka Division.
Our source stated further that the matter may have been pending before the court of law but could not ascertain if there had been judgment in favour of either of the parties. But the environment has been tense since the two major incidents of power tussles over the red owner of the land.
