Anglican DCMF Conference Kicks Off In Ahoada, Friday

The Central Planning Committee of the 2019 Diocesan Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta, has announced that the opening ceremony of the Third Session of the fourth Conference would commence on Friday, October 11, 2019.

Chairman of the Committee, Sir Friday Mbaerilam who disclosed this while unveiling the programme of activities lined up for the august event with copies made available to journalists at the weekend, said the conference would hold at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Odiemerenyi Deanery in Ahoada East Local Government Area.

Mbaerilam, who is serving as Conference Committee Planning Chair for the third year running, said the opening ceremony which would begin at 2.00 p.m. is expected to be graced by personalities which cut across the socio-economic, religious and political strata of the society.

The list of dignitaries include His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Clement Nathan Ekpeye, Bishop of the Diocese of Ahoada; Executive Chairmen of Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas; members of the State and National Assemblies, traditional rulers from the Orashi Region, politicians as well as captains of industry.

The renowned labour unionist and former Chairman of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUCPTRE) in Rivers State said the theme of the conference: ‘What Kind of Man is this? (Matt. 8: 27)’ was prayerfully chosen to explore the responsibilities of man towards his environment and the enormity of spiritual resources at his disposal.

He stated that the thrust of the annual conference is to pull resources with the aim of developing the man and the church, adding that the objective is aptly captured in their slogan: “CMF…Men, CMF…For Christ, CMF…Service to God and Humanity”.

Sir Mbaerilam further stated with delight, that the President of the Diocesan CMF, Sir (Chief) Victor A.I. Moro has graciously approved an empowerment scheme for youths of the Diocese, as a major feature in this year’s conference.  He also disclosed that new members would be inducted during the event.

Also included in the programme of activities is the presentation of Presidential Address/Launching of DCMF projects slated for 1.30 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2019 while the event would be capped with a General Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, October 13, 2019 by 10 a.m.
