Suspected Shop Burglar Meets Waterloo In PH

A suspected notorious shop burglar met his waterloo on Tuesday morning following his arrest by vigilante members at Chukwu Street off R/D road in Rumuodara Obi/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.

The suspects Buhari Nuhu who is self nick-named ‘Musa’ and hails from northern part of the country was caught by the vigilante members about 5;00am while allegedly carrying out goods from one of the shops he had forcefully broken and entered.

A member of the vigilante who spoke on condition of anonymity told National Network that the suspected burglar on sighting their men took to his heels but was caught at the East West road axis of Rumuodara after a hot chase.

He said the suspect had been handed over to Okporo Police Station in Rumuodara. Before Tuesday there had been incidents of shop burglary in the area which is a source of concern to so many business owners who had lost large amount of money to activities of the burglars.

Shop owners who spoke to our reporter said they are confused and shocked on the techniques used by the burglars to break into shops that are locked with several padlocks and chains. They said the burglars have defied every tactics employed by the business operators to fortify their shops.

Investigations by our reporter revealed that the burglars targets mainly tailoring shops and  stores where food items and recharge cards are sold due to ease and convenience of finding potential buyers who pay little money to receive the stolen items.

The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police command and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nnamdi Omoni did not respond to text messages sent to his mobile line by our reporter on the arrest of the suspected burglar.

However, a Police source confirmed that the suspect is presently in detention facility at Okporo Police station adding that as investigation is ongoing.

The President of Rumuodara Youth Association, Frank Nzube Weli in a Telephone interview confirmed the arrest of the suspect to National Network.
