Report reaching our news desk says there is confusion among members of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Ubima Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area over a decision to include repentant cultists in the Ubima Security Planning Advisory Committee (USPAC) to oversee the security affairs of the community.
A native of the community who craved anonymity informed National Network that the decision to include or exclude ex-cultists as members of the security group led to abrupt end of a stakeholders meeting in the community recently.
He explained that some natives accused certain prominent indigenes for allegedly making decision to favour one of the repentant cult groups.
Meanwhile, the Legal Adviser to Community Development Committee (CDC) of Ubima Community, Chijioke Christian Woke (Esq), in an interview with our reporter said “I support the planned formation of the local vigilante group, however the group must work within the armbit of the law”.
The legal practitioner explained that it has become necessary to have such group to work in collaboration with security agencies due to the lapses in security in the community in recent times.
He stated that if the group is formed, its activities must be censored and supervised directly by the security agencies in the state.
Recently, the community had witnessed total insecurity when suspected cultists allegedly ambushed and killed three out of the security personnel in a company located in the community.
The Royal Highness of the community, Iheanyi Prince Williams had accused security personnel of masterminding alleged burning of houses in the community.
Natives fear that if drastic measures were not taken to end the wave of insecurity in the place, the trend of hijack of commercial bus and its passengers may resume along that route.
