Tragedy struck on Tuesday at Rukpokwu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State following the death of a JSS 1 student of Community Secondary School Rukpokwu.
The victim simply identified as Miss Favour died on the spot when she was hit by a speeding car while trying to cross the road.
A yet to be identified driver whose car brakes failed while driving at a high speed knocked down Miss Favour and also destroyed a trader’s shop in the process.
The unidentified driver was said to be preparing for his wedding which was supposed to take place in four days time when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Our source disclosed that the driver who promptly reported himself to the Police Station is being detained at the Rukpokwu Police Station while investigations are said to be ongoing.
